MEET THE BUCK & THE BEES

OUR STORY

“Well, the road rolls out like a welcome mat to a better place than the one we’re at…”

I sat snuggled against my husband in our 1986 red pickup as Chris Stapleton’s voice crooned, wrapping itself around the bench seat, in sync with the shift of the gear stick.

I didn’t know it then, like I do now, but it was a foreshadowing of what was to come. I would leave my corporate career at a Fortune 50 company for a mobile bakery gifted to me on my 40th birthday because of two words: I wonder.

“I wonder,” I asked aloud to Jayson, “if I could sell the baked goods I’ve been making?” My idea of “selling” had been simple–a stationary unit at the end of our driveway or the corner ice cream stand near our home. His was the dream I didn’t know I had: a business where I create my own value and make space for others to thrive.

“Her name is Blanca,” he said when he gifted her to me. (We love to name things in our house. Our cars, the dogs’ toys, each other.) White, white with everything trimmed in gold, she is the perfect combination of whimsy and good. I never knew a converted horsetrailer could be so warm and inviting, like wearing a marshmallow parka in winter.

So the dream to make and give good away transformed from wondering into doing with some of the people I love most in this world–Jen and Jayson. This is how Buck + Bee was born.

We aspire to create a space where every single human is invited to bee (see what we did there) themselves. These places are hard to find, but we’re determined to buck the norm and do something different. Because we believe the only way to create a world like the one we want is to model how it should bee. This is the intersection where Joy + Sweet Meet (our tagline).

In Greek, my name means honeybee. I have it inked on my arm alongside a poppy–a reminder to “just bee,” to be present, to be kind, to be me. I’ve spent a lot of my life not knowing how to do that, looking to others to define my value and worth. I’ve tested it out in different forums with different people, and every time, I’m left wanting.

That is not the kind of life I want to live. And the only way to do it is to just get started…

With a lifestyle brand that offers from-scratch baked goods, flowers, community-made art and storytelling, we are making, bringing and giving good away. Eat a cookie. Take a bouquet home. Share your art. Tell your story.

And just bee you.

It’s the + sign in our name, a reminder that you are the addition to our “we” – never an afterthought; always a consideration. Because we know that together the best is yet to bee.

So what do you say?

The light is on. The door is open. Chris is singing… (take a listen)

“And it don’t matter to me. Wherever we are is where I wanna be. And honey, for once in our life let’s take our chances and roll the dice. I can be your lucky penny. You can be my four-leaf clover. Starting over.”

Come on in. We’re open.

The best is yet to bee -

M.
